Ballot initiative 1A, also known as Back the Badge, was passed by the citizens of Mesa County by a margin of 63 to 37 percent on election night, November 7. Designed to bring much-needed funding to the Sheriff’s and District Attorney’s offices, and to address rising rising crime rates, Back the Badge will add an additional sales tax on purchases in the county, excluding gas, groceries and pharmaceuticals.
We want to thank Dusti Reimer and Tom Keenan for stepping up and running for the Mesa County Valley School Board. It was a fight well fought, and although they did not win this time around, we know Dustin and Tom will continue to be valuable voices for Mesa County’s students.
All elections are important, and there is no such thing as an ‘off year’ when we’re fighting for the principles of personal liberty, government in its proper role, fiscal responsibility, and public safety.
The Mesa County GOP extends our gratitude to all those who participated in campaigns, talked to their friends about the issues, and voted! Enjoy the Holidays, regroup, and build up your election muscles, because 2018 is coming!
